Day 1 - Auckland - Paihia
Paihia - Waitangi
Waitangi - Puketi Forest
Puketi Forest - Taipa
Day 2 - Taipa - Aurere (waka and navigation area)

Day 3 - Taipa - Paihia
Paihia - Auckland
3 day Auckland Northland Return

Day 1
Auckland - Waitangi
Pick up Auckland (location tbc)
Head north of Auckland to the beautiful Bay of Islands
Arrive at historical Waitangi
- Personal guided tour of Waitangi treaty grounds
- Gain significant insight into Maori ancestral canoe Ngatokimatawhaorua
- Tour of Waitangi Museum (optional extra)
- Lunch (Cut lunch provided)
- Depart Waitangi and soak up the scenery en route to the iconic Puketi Forest. Home to some of New Zealands most native trees, birds and insects.
Waitangi - Taipa
Arrive at Marae or meeting house located in the beautiful seaside town of Taipa where you will be accommodated over the duration of the tour.
Powhiri - or a traditional Maori welcome will commence. you will be seated and then the process of Whaikorero - (speeches) begins. At the conclusion of formal proceedings manuhiri (guests) will be encouraged to hongi (press noses) and Hariru (Shake hands) which signifies a genuine gesture of welcome.
Hakiri - The Powhiri will conclude with a cup of tea and light afternoon snack. The consumption of kai (food) will lift the tapu (sacredness) of the Powhiri. Hosts and visitors will then return to the mare to co ordinate sleeping arrangements.
Raranga (The traditional art of weaving) Taute Art Gallery and Tours - Guests will be transported to the Taute Art Gallery located on the shores of Taipa beach. Traditional weaving class will be conducted by our very own highly experienced master weaver.
Collection of Seafood - (Optional extra and weather permitting open to males and females)
Dinner - As the eventful day draws to a close guests will be transported back to the marae where a hot wholesome dinner will be waiting.
Social Evening - This would be left up to you the visitor. If you decide you would like to unwind at the local tavern with a cold pint then we can transport you there and back. If you just want to hang out and mingle amongst the locals at the marae then as you please.
Day 2
Rise and shine
Breakfast (provided)
Taipa - Aurere
From Taipa you are transported 10 minutes further north along the scenic route of SH10 to the remote Aurere area for another highly eventful day of activities.
Waka paddling experience
(we highly recommend you bring a towel and some dry clothes for this activity)
This activity starts with the all important safety drill, life jackets will be provided and on-land practice will commence. We then move on to launching the waka into the water under the watchful eye of our experienced waka team. We then delve into the full on-water waka experience.
Lunch (Provided)
Traditional Carving exhibition
An exhibition will be set up in the carving workshop onsite. You will have the opportunity to observe firsthand the art of carving and traditional maori carvings will also be on display during this activity closely followed by a verbal presentation given by the carver.
Afternoon Tea (Provided)
Te Kapehu Whetu Star Compass Navigation by the Stars Presentation with Hector Busby
The Star Compass presentation will be presented by highly respected Elder, Navigational Expert and Master Waka Builder Hector Busby.
You will be given the opportunity to observe, participate and query the traditional practice of Star Navigation. This will be closely followed by a video presentation of Hector's voyages around the world.
Aurere - Taipa
Arrive back at the Marae
Hakiri Dinner - A traditional ground Hangi will be prepared, cooked and served this evening as this will be our last night together on tour this dinner will give us an opportunity to embrace you with our impeccable hospitality skills.
Whakangahau Kapahaka Performance - You will be treated to a kapahaka performance by our team of Kapahaka experts. Your full participation is required in learning a waiata-a-ringa (action song) and Haka (War Dance). You will then be encouraged to present these items to the host people.
Social Evening - This again will be of your choosing and any costs associated with this activity is your responsibility. We will however provide transport if need be.
Day 3

Poroporoaki (process of farewell)
Karakia (A prayer to bless your departure and the journey ahead for you)
Depart Taipa en route back to Auckland
